It was another brilliant spring day on the water for Horning Sailing Club, matched with a great turnout for an early season sail on the river Bure at Horning. A mixed fleet of keelboats, ranging from Yare & Bures to Yeomans, and dinghies ranging in size from Optimists to Lasers enjoyed getting on the river for two races in the sunshine. A gentle breeze made for pleasant conditions, if a little light at times.
The keelboats saw the first race won by Geoff Stubbs sailing Yeoman Tara, with Toby Fields in Yeoman Tanskey second, Kim West in Yare & Bure Nevada Blue third. The second race was won by Toby, with Kim second and Geoff third.
The dinghies saw a mix of Toppers, Lasers and Optimists participate. In the Allcomers race, first was Chevvy Bulldeath sailing his Topper, with Devon Bulldeath second, third was Tom Roberts in his Laser. The second race saw Devon win, with Darcy Hardingham second in her Topper, and Tom third. The first Optimist race was won by Indie Bulldeath with Jenson Hardingham second, these positions reversed in the second race.
The day was enjoyed so much that several boats stayed on the water for some time after formal activities concluded! Next Sunday sees the final pre-season warm up races, with the Clubs official season beginning on Sunday 23rd March.
