Sunday’s sailing on Hoveton Little Broad was in breezy and overcast conditions, with a small but enthusiastic contingent participating. Amongst the Yeomans, who were first away, over half the fleet sailed the wrong course on the first race, meaning that the only finishers were Tanskey (Toby Fields) and Cornelian (Caroline Johnson). This was followed by a second win for Tanskey, with Two C Sons (Paul Clarke) second, and Tara (Geoff Stubbs) third. The third race was won by Tara, with Two C Sons second. Racing was close amongst the Rebels, just seconds separating the finishes on each occasion, with Rebel (Kim West) taking three wins ahead of Rebel H (Anna Bunn) in second, and Lucky Rebel (Gary Wright) third. The Yare & Bures saw Brimstone (Jeremy Tusting) win two races, with Rosy Wave (Alastair Fields) second in the first two and winning the last race, and Holly Blue (Ron Jackson) third. The dinghies saw a mixed fleet of Toppers and a Splash participate, with plenty of capsizes as the wind picked up during the morning – Jasper Richardson won all three races, with William Woolston second, and Anya Gittins third.
The 3rd/4th July sees HSC’s Keelboat Weekend take place on the river Saturday, and Hoveton Little Broad Sunday.
