Hi everyone,
Another week has raced by, and it’s been another busy one for HSC members. Last weekend saw plenty of activity taking place, with both a Yare & Bure Open Weekend on Hoveton Little Broad, the Broadland Youth Regatta at Norfolk Broads Yacht Club and Club River Racing on Sunday.
You can read more on all of these activities here: https://horning-sailing.club/news/club-racing-45th-september-2021/
Paddleboarding - We also held an additional paddleboarding session on Monday evening given the fantastic weather, and some 22 members enjoyed a beautiful sunset paddle up to Dydlers Mill and on Hoveton Little Broad.
HSC Success at the Broadland Youth Regatta
We are so proud of our young sailors on their fantastic performance at the Broadland Youth Regatta last weekend, where the Club was placed third out of seven teams. All the team sailed brilliantly and were so determined but, most importantly, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The full results can be found here: https://www.sailwave.com/results/NBYC/Broadland_Youth_Regatta_2021.htm and the race report from the NSBA here: https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/241452/27th-Broadland-Youth-Regatta
Looking ahead to this weekend:
On Saturday 11th September we have our Junior Regatta (details of this have been emailed out to those attending).
This will be followed by Bart’s Bash, which is planned to start at approx. 4pm. Entry is free and everyone is welcome to take part in this Allcomers Race, which is held annually in memory of Andrew “Bart” Simpson, who passionately believed that everyone should have the chance to try sailing and enjoy the many benefits that it brings. This event raises funds for the Andrew Simpson Foundation, and we would love to get a good turnout on the day. You also get to see your positions against sailors across the world! You can sign up to take part here: https://www.bartsbash.com/sign-up/individual
We will also have a BBQ (free for Junior Regatta entrants) – everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy the event!
On Sunday 12th September we have a Down River race. If you would like to take part, please email racing@horning-sailing.club with a mobile number so that we can text you with the briefing and start information. As we have the Junior Regatta on Saturday, there will be no separate dinghy racing on the river this Sunday.
Reminders:
Working Party - A reminder that our next Work Party will be on Saturday 18th September from 10am-1pm. Please do come down and give a hand if you can, even if it’s just for an hour, as it’s much more fun with a big team of helpers. Perhaps come down with another family and make it a social event …?
Lost Property - Please check the lost property table in the Clubhouse at the exit if you have lost anything during the season.
Pets on Island - We would also like to please remind members that dogs should be kept on a lead whilst on the Island – Please can owners ensure they clean up any mess, as recently this has been found around dinghies - thank you.
Open Dinghy Weekend
On 25th/26th September we have our Open Dinghy Weekend, with racing on the river Saturday afternoon, and on the Broad Sunday. Please save the date - more information will follow soon.
