Sunday’s racing at Horning Sailing Club saw a continuation of the unseasonable weather but this did not stop some great racing, with a decent breeze and plenty of enthusiasm! Amongst the Rebels, Kevin Edwards (Rebel Maid) won both morning races, ahead of Kim West (Rebel) and Gary Wright (Rebel Jade) respectively. Geoff Stubbs (Tara) achieved a similar feat in the Yeomans, with Toby Fields (Tanskey) and Paul Clarke (Two C’ Sons) second and third in both races, something that would also be repeated in the afternoon. First Yare & Bure was Alastair Fields (Rosy Wave) with Kevin Saunders (Silver Cloud) second in both races. Entertainment was provided in the first race when a cruiser went past with a parrot aboard! The dinghy races saw the Laser of Dominic Copping win two races, whilst in the Toppers all but one of the fleet sailed the wrong course! Harrison Ryder won the first race, with Jasper Richardson winning the second, ahead of Zia Gittins and James Street.
Although the keelboat fleets were slightly diminished (largely on the basis of the forecast), the 10 -strong fleet of dinghies were ever keen and enjoyed the lively sailing – with, particularly during the afternoon, plenty of capsizes keeping the rescue boats busy! Whilst the conditions resulted in several retirements, Jasper took another win the Toppers, with Anya second and Tallulah Burr third. The final race saw Jasper take his third win of the day, with James Street second and Anya third. A special well done must go to all the young sailors for their determination, which particularly shone through as the wind picked up.
