It was another busy weekend at Horning Sailing Club, with several events taking place. Saturday saw the informal Sundown series continue with a good breeze, whilst Sunday was a Downriver race to Thurne which saw a particularly good turnout of River Cruisers, including visiting ones. Although the light breezes caused challenging and slow conditions at times, the tide helped. Racing itself was relatively uneventful, with sailors enjoying the warm and sunny weather. Amongst the keelboats and dinghies, first to Thurne was Geoff Stubbs sailing Yeoman Tara, with Roger Lambourn second in Yeoman Hornet. Third was Kevin Saunders in Yare & Bure Silver Cloud. On the return, Hornet was first, with Blue Moon (Queren Stewart) second. Five river cruisers participated, and first over the water on the downward leg was Peter Goshawk’s Grayling, although on handicap this would drop to third position, behind Tinkerbell (Adrian Lincoln) second, and George Brewis’s Amantani in first. The return saw the same positions on handicap.
