Hi everyone,

The Junior Regatta & Bart’s Bash - Saturday 11th September

The Junior Regatta was a great culmination of the year’s training for young sailors, with 30 young sailors taking part during the day – and every single sailor sailed every race – what an achievement! After four races across three fleets, the fleet winners were:

Group 1 - Optimists & Teras: Ralph Myhill (RS Tera)

Group 2 – Toppers & Teras: Jasmine Herring (Topper)

Group 3 – Toppers, Splashes, Lasers: Abbey Penny (Topper).

These races were followed by our Bart’s Bash Allcomers Races, with 19 boats taking part, including several keelboats. The keelboat race was won by Adrian Tooke in Yeoman Damselfly, the dinghies by Jasper Richardson sailing his Topper, and the Optimists/Teras by Edward Street sailing a Tera. The full results have now been uploaded to the Bart’s Bash website, where you can see how you compare with sailors across the world.  We raised £50.62 for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.

Committee Update

We had our final Committee meeting with the current Committee (and Holly’s last one as Commodore) last Monday. During the meeting we discussed plans for the forthcoming AGM, which will shortly be communicated to you, along with plans for the coming months – which again we will update members on at the AGM. It’s been an extremely difficult year for the Club to navigate, given the challenges posed by Covid-19, but I (Holly) would like to extend my thanks to the Committee for their efforts and hard work during the year, and wish the new Committee all the best going forward.

End of Season/Prizegiving

Due to circumstances beyond our control, unfortunately the venue for our End of Season supper (planned for 9th October) has unexpectedly had to cancel due to lack of staff, so in light of the current situation and challenges posed by the hospitality industry at this moment in time, we are proposing to amalgamate the End of Season and Prizegiving into just one event, held on the evening of Friday 22nd October, at The Boathouse in Ormesby. The menu and prices will follow soon, but we hope that members will support this special event.

Save the dates:

Open Dinghy Weekend - On 25th/26th September we have our Open Dinghy Weekend, with racing on the river Saturday afternoon and on the Broad Sunday.

Autumn Regatta – This new event is taking place on Hoveton Little Broad on Sunday 3rd October; the schedule will follow nearer the time.

AGM – Friday 8th October – Horning Village Hall & online.

End of Season Regatta – Saturday 9th/Sunday 10th October.
