There was another busy weekend at Horning Sailing Club with the Club’s annual Keelboat weekend and Sundown series taking place. Saturday’s racing took place on the river with overcast conditions, with a Reedling, Yeomans, Rebels and Yare & Bures taking part. As keelboat racing finished for the day, the dinghies came out to play, with Lasers, Splashes, Toppers and a Tera taking part in the evening series. By Sunday, winds were much lighter, and the keelboat races were somewhat thwarted by the weed on Hoveton Little Broad making racing very difficult. After the first race was abandoned, racing returned back to the river for the rest of the day’s activities in a dropping breeze. Winner in the Reedlings were Roger and James Pettit in Osiris, in the Yeomans, Toby Fields sailing Tanskey took two wins on Saturday, Adrian Tooke was second in Damselfly and Paul Clarke third in Two C Sons. Toby added to this with a further win on Sunday with Yeomans making the largest fleet, Geoff Stubbs (Tara) second, and Chris Bolton (Folly) third, the final race won by Geoff with Toby second. In the Rebels, which were reefed on Saturday, Kim West (Rebel Queen) and Gary Wright (Rebel Jade) won a race each, with Amanda Barnes (Rebel Jade) and Kim (Rebel Queen) each taking a race on Sunday. Amongst the Yare & Bures, on Saturday, first was Clive Gardner in Hairstreak, Ron Jackson (Holly Blue) was second, and Alastair Fields (Rosy Wave) third. Sunday saw Ron win a further race, then the final race going to Dominic Copping in Scarce Copper.
