Sunday’s winds lived up to the forecast, with gusts of some 40mph + for Horning Sailing Club’s racing on the river. Whilst the keelboats didn’t seem too keen to get out, and usual club racing was abandoned, the intrepid dinghy sailors wanted to sail and enjoyed a number of informal races on the river. There were numerous capsizes and spectacular planing down the river at great speed, much to the delight of those sailing - and watching! As the day went on, several switched to smaller craft, but there were still plenty of capsizes!

Meanwhile, HSC is gearing up for two of the main events in its calendar. The first is the Horning Boat Show, where the Club will be running taster sessions for all – at just £5 per person (Under 12s free) on Saturday 4th May, 10am-4pm (more information on HSC’s website (www.horning-sailing.club), and the second is the annual Three Rivers Race, a major Broads event, due to take place on 1st and 2nd June 2024. Entries close on 21st April and more information can be obtained through www.3rr.uk
